Long before it became a thriving dental practice, it all started with one office, one team member, and a growing family.
In 1983, Dr. Donald Murry Jr., who would later be affectionately known as “Papa” by the team, opened his first office at Tuckernuck Square on West Broad Street. That same year, he and his wife Patty welcomed their first son, followed by their second two years later. After 10 years at the original location, Dr. Murry relocated the practice to Powhatan and eventually built the office that still welcomes patients today.
For much of his career, Dr. Murry practiced on his own, with Patty supporting him every step of the way.
Their sons grew up around the office and were inspired to follow in their father’s footsteps. Just before the oldest began dental school, Dr. Murry was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident that nearly took his life. Dr. Todd Kuhn joined the practice in 2006 and became an essential part of its growth, stepping in to keep it running while Dr. Murry recovered.
Both of Dr. Murry’s sons went on to graduate from dental school and later joined the practice.
Since then, the team has grown from one to more than 40, but the heart of the practice remains the same. What began as a solo office is now a thriving group built on shared values and a commitment to treating every patient like family.
Today, Murry & Kuhn Family and Cosmetic Dentistry is proud to serve Richmond, VA, with the same care and dedication that started it all.
